Learning can be characterized as lasting changes in behavior induced by life. According to different learning theories, learning can be defined as “the process whereby knowledge is created through the change of experience”.

Assisting the learning process could be the primary mission of teaching. Knowing the learning behavior of students is well-advised to be a part of this process. Therefore, the idea of learning styles has become a popular message in several recent literatures, together with many theories about learning styles put forward to better interpret the ever-changing process of learning.

Different learning style are referring to an individual’s preferred mode of processing new data for the efficient learning. Several experts believes that the concept of learning style should be in a unique way, formed by students when they are learning new and understanding difficult topics. Learning style focuses about how students are learning rather than what they have learned. The learning process is various for every individual; even in the identical educational environment, learning does not happen in all students at the same level and choice. Research studies has proved that every individual displays different approaches during learning activity and a single specific strategy or approach would be unable to provide optimal learning conditions for all individuals.

This may be connected to students’ various backgrounds, strengths, weaknesses, interests, ambitions, levels of motivation, and formulation to studying. To make an improvement in undergraduate education, educators should become more aware of these diverse approaches. Learning styles should be useful in helping every single student and educators to understand how to improve the means they learn and teach, respectively.

Determining learners, different studying styles offers knowledge and data about their preferences. Perceptive learning styles can make it easier to create, modify, and develop more efficient curriculum and educational programs. It can also encourage students’ engagement in these programs and motivate them to gain professional knowledge. Therefore, deciding learning style is quite valuable to achieve more effective learning. Researching learning styles provides data on how students learn and find solutions to questions.

Considering the potential problems encountered in the undergraduate education of physiotherapists, determining the learning style of physiotherapy students may enable the development of strategies to improve the learning process. Different studies on learning styles in the piece of land of physiotherapy have largely been conducted in developed countries such as Canada and Australia.

A research study was conducted in USA which was examined for the different learning styles of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech pathology students. The results of this study proposed that the optimal learning environment should also be taken into consideration while researching how students are learning. Several authors and researchers have also declared that the future investigation would be required to investigate correlations between learning styles, instructional methods, and the academic execution of students in the health affirm.

To the best of our psychological feature, there are no prior in the public eye in the literature that study Turkish physical therapy students’ learning styles. Furthermore, previous studies largely used Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory (LSI), Marshall & Merritt’s’ LSI, or Honey & Mumford’s Learning Style Questionnaire (LSQ) to assess learning sort. Some of these studies also suggested that erudition behavior and styles should be analyze using different inventories. Furthermore, a scale that was inform as valid and certain for Turkish population was needed to accurately determine the learning styles of Turkish physiotherapy students. Hence, it was determined t the evaluation of physical therapy students could be made by using Grascha-Riechmann Learning Style Scales (GRLSS) which would be a major in the literature.

Learning style preferences are important in learning, academic action and may explain how students learn. Previous studies have in contestable a close association between learning style and academic performance. Learning styles have been identified as predictors of academic performance and guides for syllabus design. The purpose of this study was to determine whether learning style preferences of physiotherapy students could affect academic performance by characteristic the learning sort of Turkish physiotherapy students and assessing the kinship between these learning styles and the students’ scholarly carrying out. Since physiotherapy education chiefly consists of practice lessons and clinical practice and for the most part requires active student participation, we conception that physical therapy students with a Cooperative learning style accordant to the GRLSS would have higher academic performance.

Different Types of Learning Styles:

There are currently seven learning styles:

Visual Learner

Visual learners are those who choose learning by observing things and it is another style of learning where students can choose and use images, visuals, colors, and charts to convey ideas and their thoughts.

Aural Learner

The aural learning style is a style in which individuals learn best done with hearing directions and speaking answers.

Verbal Learner

Verbal learners are also best-known as linguistic learners. They enjoy language, reading and writing.

Physical Learner

A physical learner, also best-known as a kinesthetic learner, enjoys studying new material by moving around and touching or feeling objects.

Logical Learner

Logical learners deliver the goods by using order, steps, and logic. These learners can make relation and recognize patterns with ease and work well with numbers.

Social Learner

Social learners love being around people, practical in groups, teams and overall thrives through social interactions. They are often seen as social butterflies as they like spending much of their time with others.

Solitary Learner

A solitary learner, also best-known as an intrapersonal learner is someone who prefers learning on their own. These types of students are self-motivated, enjoy working independently, and learn best when working alone and no one is there for your help.


In nutshell we can say that all the above information teaches us to how we can learn different things through interesting methods. How students take interest in their studies by make them easy and convenient. So, if we follow these modes of learning, it would be helpful in our education and our learning material.
